Rogues will shine more in SAM because units don't have mortar ability so you can't defeat enemies before they even reach you.Bronze Age - Iron Age - Early Middle Age - High Middle Age - Late Middle Age - Colonial Age - Industrial Age - Progressive Era - Modern Era - Postmodern Era - Contemporary Era - Tomorrow Era - The Future - Arctic Future - Oceanic Future - Virtual Future - Space Age Mars - Space Age Asteroid Belt - Space Age Venus - Space Age Jupiter Moon - Space Age Titan In VF particularly ninjas sometime ignore rogues for artillery units and that decreases rogues value because they wont soak the first hits reliably. Usually in those battles you still need to have rogues soak some hits so you will gain the advantage. Rogues still serve purpose, be it at OF to soak medusa shots before you can rain it down to enemies or if the enemy composition have a lot of stealth and/or flying units. You don't need to use rogues since it is better to have 8 artillery units and wipe the enemy before they can even reach your units. Rogues are still useful but the value decreases partly because the mortar ability of artillery units in OF and VF is so good. Rogues+Alcatraz are the quintessential military combination for resource efficiency since they enable so many strategies regardless of era and fighting style. Taking advantage of the rock/paper/scissors nature of FOE fighting is a must when dealing with tough fights (ex. If you are having trouble with autobattles, it is best to concentrate your GB leveling efforts on your attack GBs. Because there are no VF units with "Flying", I had to utilize Oceanic Future troops sometimes to take advantage of enemy artillery units. I used Champions, Ronin Bots, and Rocket Troops the most in VF. If there are two waves and both waves have a variety of troops, I usually go with 6 rogues, and I pick two different troops that I feel have the best chance to win both waves. For example, if there is one wave of identical troops, you can counter with one troop that has advantage and 7 rogues. I'm in Space Age Mars now, but in Virtual Future, I still used 6-7 Rogues per fight depending on the makeup of the defensive army. In fact, I only autobattle in GE and GBG. Rogues are still useful in later eras even if you autobattle.
